TRAINING DRILLS

THE V Precision drills

The unique V net design generates a repeating absorb deflect return action during use. This allows for continuous shot play and quality repetition training.

Getting THE V setup right.

For best performance suspend the cricket ball 6 to 8cm above the floor or ground. The longer the pendulum the more room the batter has to play their shots.
Make clipping the long net tape to the rubber foot at the base of the longer front leg of the tripod the first to clip on.
Clip bottom net c clips on to the rubber feet.

BATTERS CHECKLIST
1. Get set in a relaxed, ready, balanced, side on position with leading shoulder and elbow aligned with the sharp end of THE V.
2. Use a consistent pre ball routine
3. Move head and transfer weight towards the approaching ball.
4. Move to make contact with the ball under the eyeline.
5. Maintain balance through your shot.
6. Focus on middling the ball and your target.

GETTING STARTED
1. Begin training by playing every 2nd ball as it returns, giving you time to reset between shots. Play several shots simultaneously targeting an imaginary gap in the field at mid on (approx 10cm away from the sharp end of THE V net) then change target and play several shots through mid off.
2. Playing every ball or every 2nd ball alternate your target from one side of the sharp end of THE V net to the other.
Test your acuracy. How many shots can you play in sequence?
Experiment with switching hands from left to right , sweep and reverse sweep and improving dexterity.
3.Increase the tempo of your drill by playing every ball as it returns. This is great for improving reaction time and hand speed. Remain focused on technique, control and placement.
4. When sweeping and reverse sweeping target the sharp end of THE V net.

There is unlimited scope for improvising. Design your own drill sequences.

With regular use, movement, bat control and stroke will become more consistent leading to more consistent results.

The emphasis when developing technique should be to repeat key movement patterns and actions accurately and correctly for sufficient time and reps to convert a cognitive-motor pattern (requiring coordinated concentration) to an automatic one that requires very little conscious effort.

Key skills including balance, timing and rhythm will develop, building confidence and enjoyment of the game.
